He was awarded the Italian Bronze Medal for Valour in 1918 and Mentioned in Dispatches on 26 Oct 1918 when serving as Lieutenant (Acting Captain); certificate signed by the Secretary of State for War 1 Mar 1919 (information from Avril Davies via William E Mutlow).
