Notes

• 1851 census: scholar age 4, living with his parents in East Bridgford.
  1861 census: scholar age 14, living with his father and sister in East Bridgford.
  1871 census: not found in East Bridgford, so appears that he had moved away by this date.
  1881: Butcher, age 34, living with his wife at 94 London Road Derby.  No children listed, so possible that he had no issue.
  Inherited (jointly with his older brother John) all of his father's possessions, according to the will of James Mason dated 24 May 1883 (proved 28 Mar 1884); this included all of his father's "cottages or tenements and premises situate in East
  Bridgford".
  Not found in the 1901 census index; perhaps deceased.
